Who was William Harvey?
Important individual that was responsible for discovering that blood was pumped around the body by the heart.
Who was Harvey’s lecturer and influence from the university he attended.
Between the years 1599 and 1602, Harvey attended the university of Padua. His lecturer was Andreas Vesalius of which he would attend many of his dissection lectures.

Harvey worked as the Royal Physician for James I. This gave him much greater credibility and publicity with his influential ideas.
Why were people initially ignoring Harvey’s ideas?
It challenged Galen’s ideas which had been believed for a long time and enforced by the church- creating another era of scientists such as Thomas Sydenham.
What new technology was Harvey influenced by when discovering how hearts worked?
He used the idea of the mechanical Water Pumps which pumped water and related it to the human body.
