A

2 major problems were the poor health and lack of access to medical care.

Beveridge recommended some welfare changes such as the NHS to make it more accessible.

A

The Labour Party launched the NHS on 5th July 1948.

It was surprising as their win of the “khaki Election” was opposing the conservatives who had just led the country through war with Winston Churchill.

It was a heavy fog that was caused by harmful pollution. It stemmed from the excess burning of low quality coal for the winter.
It led to many deaths due to respiratory problems.

What is a PRO and CON of the NHS?

A

PRO -
Provided free care to expensive machines to heal the sick. Such as CAT scans, MRI scans and Endoscopes later on.
Everybody could now access it.
CON -
It can often become overloaded with patients.
At first, upper-class people did not like paying National Insurance so other people could afford healthcare.
