What is found in a Complete Blood Count?
RBC, WBC,, Hemogoblin, Hematorcrit, and Platelets
What does RBC indicate?
oxoygen carrying capacity
What does WBC Indicate?
high WBC count shows infection, Low WBC count could mean lykuemea or other diseases
What is Hemogoblin Inidicate?
carries oxoygen protein, low levels could indicate anemia
What is hematocrit?
the percentage of RBC in blood
low levels indicate the decreased tolerance to exercise
What do platelets do?
assist with blood clotting
What is PT INR?
a calculation used to check on patients typically who take blood thinners
High INR could have increased risk of bleeding
Low INR could have increased risk of blood clots
What is normal glucose range ?
70-130 mg/dl
glucose level is checked often in patients with diabetes
hyperglycemia
Over 130mg/dl
can be due to overactive thyroid , pancreatic cancer or pancreas problems
Avoid excercise if glucose level exceeds 250mg/dl
Hypoglycemia
under 70 mg/dl
can be due to pituary disorders or hypothyroidism
Opioids
used for pain
ex. ocy and percs
side effects>sedation, dizziness, nausea , and addiction
Non opioids
ex.tylenol
over the counter pain stuff
side effects>liver and kidney damage, stomach pain, ulcers, and headaches
What are the 3 kinds of high blood pressure meds?
Diuretics , BetaBlockers, Ace Inhibitors
Diuretics
used to lower blood volume
Betablockers
used to reduce heart rate
Ace Inhibitors
stops the narrowing of blood vessels
What are the side effects of High blood pressure meds?
dizziness, fatigue, light head, cough, diarhea, anxiety, nausea
Anti imflammatories
used to treat pain, fever, and inflammation
ex. aspririn and ibuprohen
side effects> stomach issues, headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, kidney and liver problems
Corticosteroids
stronger anti-inflammatories
used for arthritis, lupus, cancer, other inflammatory conditions
side effects> agitation, insomnia, osteoprosis, weight gain and swelling
High Cholestrol Meds (Statins)
reduce risk of heart attack , block liver enzyme actions
side effects>headache,mucle weakness, difficulty sleeping
Blood thinners
two types anti coagulants and anti platelets
coagulants- reduce coagulation of blood and reduce clotting
platelets- keep platelets from sticking together
What are psychotropic drugs?
alter perception , mood and behaviour
like anti-depressants and anti-anxiety
What are the side effects of blood thinners?
excessive bleeding, skin bruising, dizziness, weakness
What are the side effects of psychotropic drugs?
depression, nausea, dizziness, weight gain
