What are theory x workers
Employees with a dislike to their work and avoids it at all costs
Money is the motivator
What does theory x workers believe
- similar to classical, employees are lazy and lack ambition
- managers believe they work for finance and nothing else
- dislike it and avoid it when possible
-used in structures with narrow span of control - uninterested in work and resist change
Who are theory y workers
Employees who enjoy work and get just as much out of it as rest/ play
What do theory y workers believe
-assumes workers enjoy their duty and are self motivated
- assumes workers will be eager for responsibilities and empowerment
- there should be some self management and communication with employee decision making
- they want recognition, achievement and empowering workers
