Maximizing Photosynthesis Flashcards
1
Q
What happens if the light intensity is increased?
A
The rate of photosynthesis is eventually limited by another factor.
2
Q
What would get produced at the high proportion of energy concentracted at those wavelengths?
A
It would produce a high rate of photosynthesis.
3
Q
What does Carbon Dioxide Concentrations in a Graph refer to?
A
- An increase in the carbon dioxide concentration increases the rate at which carbon is incorporated into carbohydrate in the light-independent reaction so the rate of photosynthesis generally increases until limited by another factor.
4
Q
How does Temperature play a role?
A
- Photosynthesis is dependent on ambient air and leaf temperatures.
- It is a reaction catalyzed by enzymes.
- As the enzymes approach their optimum temperatures the overall rate increases.
- Above the optimum temperature the rate begins to decrease until it stops.
