What are the three steps to calculate a Surd?
A
Step 1: identify the largest square number
Step 2: separate the two numbers
Step 3: square root
e.g. Square root (sqr) of 160 = sqr 16 x 10
= sqr 16 x sqr 10
= 4 x sqr 10

A Surd is a square root which results in a irrational value

How do you find a factorial on a calculator?
A
Type in your number and press ‘=’, then press ‘shift’ and the button with ‘fact’ in yellow above (button looks like ‘.,,,’)

How do you find a factorial without using a calculator?
A
Make a tree diagram.
e.g. 40 / \ 2 20 / \ 2 10 / \ 2 5
Factorial of 40 = 2*4 x 5
