Maneuvers Flashcards
1
Q
Pre-Maneuver Checklist
A
Gas- Adequate
Mixture- Full Rich
Switches- Lights and Fuel Pump ON
2
Q
Steep Turns
A
- Pre-Maneuver Checklist
- Select altitude for task to be completed no lower than 1,500’ AGL
- Select outside visual reference, bug reference heading
- Enter at cruise speed (100 - 115 KIAS)
- Establish a single 360º turn with a 45º bank angle
- Roll out smoothly on original heading
3
Q
Slow Flight
A
- Pre-Maneuver Checklist
- Select altitude for task to be completed no lower than 1,500’ AGL
- Select outside visual reference, bug reference heading
- Reduce power, maintain heading and altitude as the airplane slows.
- Flaps in smoothly to FULL when able
- Maintain 60 - 65 KIAS, power as necessary (or just above the stall warning horn)
- On recovery, full power, retract flaps to 25º
- Reaching approximately 70 KIAS retract flaps to 10º
- Reaching approximately 80 KIAS retract flaps to 0º
- Maintain altitude and heading throughout the recovery
4
Q
Power Off Stall
A
- Pre-Maneuver Checklist
- Select altitude for task to be completed no lower than 1,500’ AGL
- Select outside visual reference, bug reference heading
- Reduce power, maintain heading and altitude as the airplane slows.
- Flaps in sequence to FULL
- Descend at 65 KIAS to simulate a descent to landing.
- Pitch up to 8º to 12º above the horizon simulating a flare. Hold this angle.
- Once stall occurs, recover by simultaneously reducing angle of attack, adding FULL POWER,
and retracting flaps to 25º - Reaching 70 to 80 KIAS and positive rate, retract flaps to 10º
- Reaching 90 KIAS and positive rate, retract flaps to 0º

Q
Power ON Stall
A
- Pre-Maneuver Checklist
- Select altitude for task to be completed no lower than 1,500’ AGL
- Select outside visual reference, bug reference heading
- Reduce power, maintain heading and altitude as the airplane slows.
- Reaching 70 - 75 KIAS, simultaneously increase pitch, and apply Full Power
- Slowly increase pitch to 20º - 22º above the horizon and hold this angle.
- Upon reaching full stall condition, recover by reducing the
angle of attack, then pitch for climb - Level off and return to cruise flight
6
Q
Normal Take-off
A
- Complete Before Take-off Checklist and Take-off Briefing
- Once clearance is obtained to take-off, visually check final for traffic and verify Runway with a
callout, “Runway ____ verified” - Line up on centerline and smoothly advance throttle to FULL POWER
- Callout “airspeed alive”
- Accelerate to VR 60 KIAS, apply backpressure, and allow the airplane to lift off.
- Pitch for 7.5º-10º and climb out at Vy (76 KIAS)
- Maintain coordination with right rudder
- Maintain runway centerline using wind drift correction
- At 1,000’ AGL, perform Climb Checklist
7
Q
Normal Landing
A
- Perform the Before Landing Checklist before entering the pattern.
- Enter downwind on a 45º angle at midfield
- Downwind- reduce power and slow to around 100 KIAS
- Abeam touchdown point: reduce power to 1,500 - 1,900 RPM, check speed and extend flaps to
10º slowing to approximately 90 KIAS - Base- extend flaps to 25º slowing to 80 KIAS
- Final- extend flaps to 40º, slowing to 70 KIAS, aiming for the runway numbers.
- Flare so that the main tires touchdown first at near stalling speed, gently letting the nose down
on the centerline - Align the longitudinal axis of the aircraft with the centerline using rudder correction
- Use brakes as necessary
