Mandibular central Incisor Flashcards
Common Traits to All Incisors
Rectangular in shape- longer than they are wide
Taper from proximal to cervical
More convex distal surface than mesial
Mesioincial angle is more square than disto incisal angle
Distal contact more cervical than mesial
Roots taper toward the apex and lingual
Roots are wider faciolingually- except maxillary central = symmetrical
Roots are longer than crown and can bend to distal
Common Traits to All Incisors
Crowns taper from proximal contact towards lingual
Mesial and distal marginal ridges converge on cingulum
Cervical lines on Facial and Lingual curve upwards towards the apex
Proximal CEJ curve towards incisal and greater on mesial
Wedge shaped proximal outline
Facial and Lingual height of contour is in the cervical third
S shaped lingual outline- when viewed from proximal angles
Facial is less convex than lingual (view it from the incisal aspect)
Statistics of Mandibular Central Incisor:
First, list out all of the stats of the maxillary central incisors and maxillary lateral incisors before moving on!
CHANGE UP: FL MD
Facial Lingual Width is Greater than the Mesial Distal Width (as compared to what was seen in the maxillary centrals and laterals) – This just doesn’t apply to the crowns, but also with the ROOTS!
First calcification
3-4 months
enamel completion
4-5 years
eruption
6-7 years
root completion
8-9 years
crown vs root
The root is longer than the crown!
Bisecting Line
The incisal edge is LINGUAL to a bisecting line!- To remember, occlude, and notice how your bottom teeth are behind your top teeth? Thus, supports this claim.
May have more than one canal with multiple foramen
