Maintenance Flashcards
What is the NAMP?
Naval Aviation Maintenance Program
O Level
Organizational Maintenance - basic maintenance performed by an activity on its assigned aircraft and equipment.
I Level
Intermediate Level Maintenance - Produce Ready for Issue (RFI) parts and Ready for Use (RFU) support equipment.
D Level
Depot Level Maintenance - Rework performed by designated depot activities on aircraft, equipment, and material requiring overhaul, upgrading, or rebuilding of parts, assemblies, subassemblies, etc.
What is SE?
Support Equipment - all equipment required on the ground to make an aeronautical system, support system, subsystem, or end item of equipment.
MMCO
Maintenance Material Control Officer - responsible for the overall productive effort of the department
MCO
Material Control Officer
What are the two time frames of maintenance?
Near term and long term
AADB
Automated Aircraft Discrepancy Book
ADB has Inspection and Acceptance Record for at least the last ____ flights.
10
What is a NAVFLIR?
Naval Flight Information Record
What is ASM?
Aviation Skills Management
Safe for Flight Certification
AADB accurate with EOC code per the MESM
Verify downing discrepancies signed off
Verify preflight, TA, and Daily
Verify fuel sample
Verify oil consumption
Verify W&B
Verify flight hour accuracy
Etc
Blocks of an A Sheet
1: BUNO
2: T/M/S
3: REPORTING CUSTODIAN
4: OXY
5: FUEL
6: OIL
7: DATE
8: ORDNANCE/SPECIAL EQUIPMENT/LIMITATIONS/REMARKS
9: SIGNATURE OF PC
10: SIGNATURE FOR SFF
11: SIGNATURE OF PIC
Hot Seat
Operational evolution where a manned aircraft returns from flight in and “up” status, the engine(s) remain operating, the PIC is changed, and the aircraft is relaunched.
How long can hot seats go?
Until the expiration of the Daily inspection or until the aircraft is shut down.
How does maintenance document a hot seat on an A sheet?
Block 8: Hot Seat
Block 10: Debarking PIC signature
Block 11: New PIC signature
Does hot refueling require a new A sheet? What about hot seat?
No, Yes
What are some conditions that require an FCF?
Aircraft acceptance
30 day no fly
Directed by technical manual, or directive
After installation or rigging of engine, prop, major fuel system component, drive train/gearbox, etc
When an aircraft with dual attitude reference sources has had both replaced
Upon completion of Depot Work
Preflight Inspection
Performed to verify the material integrity and correct servicing of the aircraft prior to aircrew acceptance of the aircraft for flight.
Daily Inspection
Valid for a maximum of 72 hours commencing from date and time it was completed, provided no maintenance and no flight occurs.
Once a flight occurs, the aircraft may make multiple flights in a 24 hour period. In no case is a Daily valid for longer than 72 hours unless 72 hour expiration occurs in flight.
Extension of Daily Inspection
Wing may authorize a 24 hour extension (max 96) due to operational necessity. CO must request authorization in writing.
Who does the Daily inspection on a CCX?
When required for CCX, or when aircraft operated away from home base without maintenance, the CO may authorize the PIC to conduct applicable T/M/S NATOPS inspection in lieu of a Daily.
Turnaround Inspection
Performed between flights that occur after completion of the Daily. Valid for a period of 24 hours from date and time inspection was completed or until flown. Once the aircraft is weight off wheels, the turnaround inspection is considered expired.
Does a Daily satisfy Turnaround inspection requirements?
No
When is a Turnaround Inspection not required?
Hot seat
Hot refuel
Pax or cargo stop
Short interruptions for FCF adjustments
Cold refuel with immediate relaunch of same PIC
Postflight Inspection
Performed immediately after aircraft shut down to inspect for visible damage.
Special Inspection
Scheduled on prescribed recurring interval. For example, 28 day, 100 hours, 50 hours, 5000 rounds, etc.
