Helps the body fight infection however not all animals have one
What does the lymphatic system work alongside
The circulatory system to remove toxins
What is the lymphatic system made up of
Lymph, vessels, tissues and organs
What is lymph fluid and what is it made up of
- Made up of rich white blood cells
- formed from blood plasma
- moves around tissues and collects in lymph vessels
Name the lymph organs
- spleen
- lymph vessels
- lymph nodes
- thymus
What does the spleen do
Controls the level of RBCs in the blood, where the b-cells mature
What is the lymph vessel
Acts like veins and capillaries, transport the lymph fluid
What is lymph nodes
Found along the lymph vessels, filter the lymph fluid to remove toxins, waste and pathogens
What is the thymus
Where t-cells mature (these destroy virus- infected cells and signal other cells to fight infection)
