What are the requirements for a takeoff alternate?
- within 1hr at OEI cruise speed
- weather above planning minima for +/- 1hr
When are two destination alternates required?
- weather is below planning minima
- no met info available
When is a destination alternate not required?
- 2 runways available and usable at destination and flight time less than 6 hrs
- vis greater than 5km for +/-1hr eta
- ceiling at least 2000ft or circling + 500ft (whichever is greater) for +/-1hr eta
When can you descend below MDA/MDH on a CAT 1 approach?
When one of the following is visual:
- threshold
- threshold markings
- thresholdmlights
- visual glide slope indicator
- touchdown zone or touchdown zone markings
- touchdown zone lights
- runway edge lights
When can you descend below MDA/MDH on a CAT 2 approach?
Three consecutive of any of these lights and can see a lateral element:
- centreline of the approach lights
- touchdown zone lights
- rwycentreline lights
- runway edges lights
When can you descend below MDA/MDH on a CAT 3A approach?
Three consecutive of any of these lights:
- centreline of the approach lights
- touchdown zone lights
- rwycentreline lights
- runway edges lights
What is the approach ban?
If RVR is below minimums then the approach can’t be continued below 1000ft
What colour are taxiway edge lights?
Blue
What colour are taxiway centreline lights?
Green
What colour are the taxiway centreline lights when inside the ILS critical area?
Alternating yellow and green
What colours are runway centreline markings?
- white
- alternating red and white when. 900 m from end of runway (or half runway distance if runway is less than 1800m)
- red when 300m from end of runway
What colour are runway edge lights?
White
