Ice And Rain Protection Flashcards
What does the ice and rain protection system include?
- wing anti ice
- engine anti ice
- windshield heating
- ADSP/TAT heating
- windshield wipers
Where is the source of the air used for engine anti ice?
Bleed air from the low stage bleed
What happens to the engine anti ice valve when an electrical or pressure signal is not sensed?
It automatically fails open
Which slats are heated by bleed air?
The 3 outboard slats of each wing
Can the APU supply bleed air for the anti ice system?
No
When ice is detected by the ice detectors how long will the wing and engine anti ice valves remain open and activated for?
Until 5 mins after the icing condition is no longer detected
What happens if one ice detector fails?
The system works as normal but there is now no redundancy
What happens to the anti ice system if both ice detectors fail?
The anti ice system can only be operated in manual mode
At what temperatures should the MCDU REF A/I be set to ENG?
5-10 Celsius
At what temperatures should the MCDU REF A/I be set to ALL?
Below 5 Celsius
In case of only a single AC source in flight which windshield is heated?
Left windshield
If the left windshield heating system fails when only one AC source is available what happens?
The right windshield heating system becomes available
When are the ADSPs heated?
Whenever the aircraft is airborne or an engine is running
Which ADSP will be heated when only battery power is available?
ADSP 3
When does the wing anti ice test occur?
Upon reaching 10,000ft or 10 mins after takeoff (whichever comes first)
