LPCO09 Flashcards
What are the types of wound healing?
Primary intention (the wound is closed immediately following the injury prior to granulation.
Secondary intention: allowing the wound to heal on its own without surgical closure.
Delayed primary closure: a combination of first and secondary intentions
What is granulation?
Part of the healing process where rough, pink tissue containing new connective tissue and capillaries form around the edge of a wound.
What is extravasation?
Passage or escape into the tissues, usually blood, serum, or lymph.
Epithelialization

Serosanguineous
Purulent
Serous= clear, watery drainage
Sanguineous=bloody
Serosanguineous= composed of serum and blood
Purulent=consisting or containing pus
Factors that complicate wound healing process.

What should you observe when inspecting injury?
