how does communication help?
help overcomes employee resistence cuz staff feel:
- they understand the reason for change and the outcome of the change
-the managers has listened to their concerns
-the managers has taken on borad some of their ideas
Communication
-explaining the reason for change
-allowing employees to ask questions. make suggestions and provides feedback through forums, team meetings, in person via email.
-making it clear to employees that managers have heard employees and understood employees feedback
Empowerment
to make them feel as if they have control over their lives.–> sharing decion making and info with employees do they can particpate in change
how would empowerment look like in business?
-allowing employees to have input in ideas
-allowing employees to come up with their ideas on how change can occur
-delegating responsbility for parts of the employee change
how does empowerment help?
-they feel like they had input into the change.
-They feel ownership over the change because they be shaped it through their contributions
Support–> managers can support them by:
-Providing time for employees to share their worries and anxieties about the change and reassuring employees that these feelings are normal
-Listening and showing empathy for how employees are feelings
-Providing trained professionals such as counsellors and change agents who are trained in listening to ppl anxieties and suggest coping strategies
-Providing training that will assist employees with their duties and role
how does support help?
-they are not fearful for change
-they feel like they have the help they need when things become hard
Incentives
something that makes ppl want to behave in a certain way because they gain something
how can managers provide incentives?
-Offering promotions into more senior positions as part of the change
-Offering pay rises, bonuses, gifts or prizes to employees who embrace the change
-Offering exciting training opportunities.
how does incentive help?
make them less resistent to change cuz:
- they personally benefit from the change
-their performance objectives are linked to the business’s new objectives
advantages
- long term trust on employees
-change is likely to be successful in short term as employees understand it and are commited to it.
Disadvantage
-can take longer to initiate change
-cost asscoaited with it e,g bonus, concelling
