Corporate social responsibility CSR
the obligation a business has over and above its legal responsibilities to the wellbeing of the enviornment and wider community (employees, shareholders, customers ect)
CSR Principles: inputs, outputs,
Inputs–> e.g. sourcing ethically
Processes–> quality control and assurance, ethical praticies, safe workplace
outputs–>
CSR of enviornment
-how will the change impact upon pollution, wildlife
Example, using new tech increase/reduces wastage. It is enviornmentally friendly (emmsisions)
CSR of employees and managers
-staff should be properly trained with any new equipment to avoid accidents
-should be paid fiarly, have safe work conditions, treated fairly, and have proper and ethical pay,, redundancy ect..
CSR of customers
-Provided with GS that are quality, safe, reliable
-Business should communicate their CSR (i.e goods used within their products)
CSR of suppliers
-Use local (creating job opportunities)
-If sourcing from overseas making sure employees are not being taken advantage of (wages)–> ethically sourced
CSR of general community
-when introducing new tech, expectations that the business uses redeployment instead of redunacny
Small Goods and CSR considerations
inputs:
- new suppliers should be socially responible e.g empty local workers form their areas
-animals should be treated ethically e.g not caught/slaugtered to young
Procsesses:
-Any new meat processing machinery used in processing should be energy efficient
-New products should not generate waste - they should create new products from the outputs of old products to minimize landfill
Outputs:
-New products should use environmentally friendly packaging that does not go to landfill e.g. paper packaging for meats
-New products should be healthy - e.g. low fat and low salt
