Fibre?
Fibre is very important in the diet. It absorbs water and becomes bulky in the intestine. This prevents constipation and other bowel diseases. When cereals are refined or processed the fibre is removed eg. White flour. Whole cereals (unrefined) are better for the body as they contain fibre

Rickets?
Lack of vitamin d causes rickets. Vitamin d is needed for absorption of calcium so that bones can grow. Children with rickets have soft bones that can bend easily
Hypervitaminosis?
Is when you have too much vitamin a or d in the diet or taking too much vitamin supplements it eventually gets to a toxic level
Haemoglobin
Iron is needed to make haemoglobin which is a substance in red blood cells. Haemoglobin helps carry oxygen aroung our body to give us energy
Absorption of iron
Iron is found in many foods but not as easily absorbable from sown foods. It is important to consume vitamin c with foods containing iron to help absorption. Drinking orange juice which contains vitamin c with breakfast cereal which contains iron is an example of this
Oxidation
In the body’s cells food is burned and and energy is produced
