- Not always needed • READ CHEMICAL LABEL
- Make sure that they fit properly - Don’t forget their your lungs??? Inhalation.
- EN 143 type respirator filter units should be used in the respirator when using pesticides.
- Always check the Filter Cartridges use by date.
- Should be cleaned with soapy water, dried and store in a clean storage box
- Then store in a ventilated locker.

- One piece coverall, with hood are essential especially when using a knapsack
- Available in a re-useable or disposal form
- Must be capable of preventing chemical coming in contact with skin.
- CE Type 3 or 4 EN 374-3 for knapsack spraying (EN374-3 or EN ISO 6529 Resistance to permeation by chemicals (replaced EN369)
- Check condition of all PPE before spraying or opening containers

Are leather wellingtons the prefered choice of footwear when applying pesticides?
Answer No.
Products must comply with EN 340: 2003 which Leather welliongtons do not.

What should the operator think about when using non disposable PPE?
- Reusable PPE should be checked before use for wear and tear.
- When finished using, all items should be throughly washed down leaving no residues and stored away safely.
- Respirator should be wiped out with wet soapy cloth, left out to dry and then stored in a zip lock bag.
