Which of the following represent the org levels specific to project management?
Project management in SAP has no organizational levels to itself.
Define the characteristics of projects.
Unique in purpose Capital intensive Time Intensive Complex in nature Involve different functional areas
Which objects of a project are structured hierarchically?
Work Breakdown structure
Activities in a project are linked together using relationships to form the ________.
Network
Define a Work Breakdown Structure.
A WBS contains WBS elements arranged hierarchically to manage costs, budgets, and dates for the project
Define activities.
Activities of a project can be linked to one another in a precedence diagram. The precedence diagram describes the relationships ( dependencies) between the activities , and the order in which they must be completed. The precedence diagram is called a network.
List the operative indicators for WBS elements.
Planning element
Account assignment element
Billing element
A wbs element that has the operative indicator “Planning Element” is an element for which ______
costs and revenues are planned
A WBS element that has the operative indicator “ Account Assignment” is an element for which_______
cost are posted
A WBS element that has the operative indicator, “Billing Element” is an element for which__________
Revenues are posted
List the functions of WBS Elements
WBS Element are associated with the following functions:
Dates Budgets Commitments Costs and revenues Payment information Period closing
List the functions of Activities.
Internally processed Externally processed Materials Costs Milestones Period-end closing
List the five phases of a project.
Concept Rough-cut Planning Detailed Planning Execution Closing
Describe the concept phase of a project.
the project is created and discussion of the project is at a very high level. No detail is present in this phase.
Describe the rough-cut phase of a project.
During the rough-cut phase of a project, WBS Elements are defined at a high level.
It does not include all WBS elements that will be required for the project.
Activities are not essential at the rough-cut phase but may also be present at a high level.
Describe the detailed phase of a project.
WBS element are created and included in the Work Breakdown structure.
All Activities are created, assigned to WBS element and included in a network.
Describe the execution phase of a project.
Project must be placed in release status.
Work on the project can be performed and the functions of WBS elements and Activities are activated.
Actual dates , costs and revenues can be posted to the project.
Describe the closing phase of a project.
During the closing phase of a project, period-end activities occurs
Billing can take place and aspects of the project are settled.
Project evaluation and analysis

Edit projects
Gantt chart navigation
Name two additional graphical tools that are available in SAP Project Systems

Hierarchy graphic
True or False:
The hierarchy graphic can be accessed from both the project builder and proect planning board
True
Which of the following are graphical overviews available in the Project Planning Board.
Activity overview
Capacity overview
Material overview
Cost overview
Capacity overview
Material overview
Cost overview
In order to plan a costs on WBS Element , that WBS element must be assigned the Account Assignment operative indicator.
False. It must be assigned the Planning operative indicator.
For planning costs for WBS Elements with one or more activities, costs can be planned at the activity level and rolled up to the WBS Element Level
True
List the different methods for planning costs on projects in SAP
Overall Planning (Hierarchal Planning) SAP Easy Cost Planning Activity and Network Planning Planning with orders (Projects and Orders) Cost Element Planning Unit costing
Cost planning in projects is important because it provides the basis for__________.
The budget request.
Which of the following controls how the budget on a project is released?
Availability control
List two different versions of Availability Control for projects in SAP.
Active Availability Control; Passive Availability Control
Describe the differences between Active Availability Control and Passive Availability Control.
AAC= the system will generate a message when the budget has or will be exceeded
PAC = allows users to evaluate costs on the project to see if the budget has been exceeded, but it does not generate any messages.
Explain how costs are postd to the project using the MM procurement process
In MM procurement, consumable items needed for the project requirement an account assignment category. The user could select account assignment category “Project” or “Network”.
As a result, an account assignment object will be required pending the account assignment category selected.
At the time of the goods receipts posting, the cost will post to the appropriate account assignment object in the project.
Explain how costs are posted to the project using activities.
Activities could be internally processed or externally processed.
Externally processed activities will post cost to the project using MM Procurement process.
Internally processed activities are performed by work centers. When an activity is confirmed, those costs post to the project activity and update the costs to WBS element.
Which of the following are settlement options in projects?
Single-level settlement
Multi-Level settlement
Direct Settlement
Indirect Settlement
Multi-Level settlement
Direct Settlement
Explain the difference between direct and multilevel settlement.
DS = used in the project. All WBS Elements and Activities that need to be settled are settled directly to the receiver of the project.
MLS= all activities are settled to their respective WBS elements. The WBS elements are settled upward in the hierarchy until everything is settled to the top level WBS element . Once settlement reached the top level WBS element, it is then settled to the receiver for the project.
