Formula Fiction
Escapist literature that offer reprieve from everyday experience through excitement, violence, or passion.
Dynamic Character
Character in fiction who undergoes some kind of change because of action of the plot
Static Character
Character in work of fiction who does not change
Flat Character
Character in work of fiction who embodies one or two qualities
Round Character
Character in work of fiction who is psychologically complex with competing ideas, values, and possibilities
Stock Character
Type of flat character who is easily recognized by type
Diction
Refers to writer’s choice of words
Editorial omniscience
Omniscient narrator intrudes into narration to evaluate character’s actions and thoughts
Neutral Omniscience
Narration that allows characters’ actions and thoughts to speak for themselves
Limited Omniscience
Narration restricted to single perspective of major or minor character
