Old English
Surviving old English poetry, mainly discuss his real heroes in bottles or provides a narrative about a fictional hero. Fictional palms are considered lays or lais which are narrative poems that are structured, using couplets of lines containing eight syllables each. The translations were often of passages from the Christian Bible adaptations of biblical passages or copies of Christian hymns. An example is Beowulf.

English is characterized by the development of dialects within written, communication and late middle English includes numerous developments that created the foundation for modern English. Examples include the Canterbury tales and sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
The renaissance
Lasted for multiple centuries, breaking many developments in culture the arts, education and philosophy. Characterized by a focus on the humanities, allowing the arts including literature to flourish. Authors include William Shakespeare John Donne John Milton, Edmund Spenser, and Christopher Marlowe.
Gothic movement
Beginning in the 18th century and persisting through the 19 century, it took inspiration from the architecture and cultures of the late middle ages in Europe. Another common characteristic of Gothic literature is it’s eerie, dark suspenseful, tone, authors include Horace, Walpole, and Radcliffe and your Allan, Poe, and Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Naturalism
Like realism, rejected the emotional focus and provided a type of social commentary. Stretch the ideas of realism promoting literature that authentically depicts the life of the common man and criticizing the influence of morality on such literature.
Modernism
Influence by industrialization and characterized by an attempt to turn away from the norms and traditions of literature, and use new techniques and methods. It began during queen Victoria’s reign, which defined the period known as the Victorian era.
Postmodernism
Grew out of modernism’s reliance on science and universal assertions, but emphasize the individuals subjective perception of reality as it is often more athletic to an individuals experience in a university applied statement. Asserts that since each person increase their own version of reality, fully and accurately defining reality is futile and impossible. writers use many concrete details rather than abstract details because they can be objectively observed and are not left up to the individual.
