Q

What do you do if you accidentally shut down the eng before 3 min after landing?

A

The affected engine must not be re-started after a high-power shutdown

Option 1:
If an engine restart is possible (at gate, ramp, taxiway, etc.), restart the engine
within 2 minutes of shutdown and stabilize at IDLE for 10 minutes before
shutdown. Use APU or engine crossbleed as appropriate.
Option 2:
If an engine restart is not possible perform the following steps:
(1) Dry crank the engine immediately. DO NOT select the ENG RUN
switch
(2) On ENGINE panel, select and hold L or R ENG CRANK (as
appropriate). Dry motor for 4 minutes
(3) After 4 minutes, release switch (spring loaded to START AUTO)
(4) After at least 1 minute (minimum) and N2% has reached is zero.
(5) Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4.

Q

To reduce these dispatch delays due to electrical issues during the preflight phase, what is the procedure?

A

When a normal power transfer fails to occur, several advisory / info and even caution messages may be posted, specifically ELECTRICAL FAULT (A) and associated info. When this occurs during preflight at the gate, advice MOC and perform an Aircraft Power Reset (Power Down – Power Up) Procedure, as per PQRRG 1.4.

After the initial eight (8) minute power up, the CABIN COM FAULT should not be displayed and normal operations may resume.

(No Seat belt sign changes or PA’s, or inter-phone for 8 min)

Vref +10

If you land in direct you don’t get AP, FD, Nose Steering, Ground lift Dumping, Sidestick Priority.

65
Q

What is CP 91 DU Failure on Grd about?

What is the concern?

Solution?

A

DU Failure or accidental shutdown results in loss of the selected derated or Flex
take-off thrust settings following the reset / loss of the Display Unit

Results in PERF-DEP and PERF-CLB thrust selections reverting to default values impacting preflight operations.

Re-enter the required PERF/DEPT data TO THRUST, CLB THRUST, and FLEX temperature from the WAT data

66
Q

What is CP 94 AT Misbehavior about and what is the cause?

What is the fix?

A

Autothrottle RETARD mode activating and the climb thrust cycling between CLB and GA thrust.
(Cause erroneous Radar Alt information)

Disengage AT and re engage it, if needed select CLB in Thrust soft key

67
Q

Why does TCAS memory items have you select FD off?

A

To get SPD and not THR (thrust will adjust the pitch to get the speed)

68

A

No predictive for 15 sweeps or 45 sec

69
Q

What is the danger for Approaches with no Missed approaches like Kelowna RNAV 34?

A

The missed approach is not coded so normal Go Around procedures will not work. At 1,000 ft speed FMS is not coded so AT will kick off and if you re select it without changing to speed man you will get - - - - in the window as nothing is coded it will fail three time then won’t come back on.

So…

Speed MAN Vfe/FLC/Flap at 1,000

70
Q

What this the procedure for the Visual RWY 34 in Kelowna?

A

Kelowna procedure for landing on 34 is to fly the RNAV Y 16 to TAVI to 4,500 ft in LNAV/VNAV do not select APP as it will not respect the ALT 4,500 ft. Program FMS Visual RWY 34 but do not execute, if Visual reference is made depart Tavi in pre selected DG 200, if no reference conduct missed for RNAV Y 16. Execute FMS visual and dir to WPT 1 to start the Visual, missed approach for Visual RWY 34 is not programmed so you must select speed Man bug up clean up Rwy DG to MSA) see attention all users pg 12-27 in approach section

Configure:
Gear down flap 3 landing checklist complete at TAVI
AP off and select DG 200 at Tavi if visual made
AP on when between WPT 1 and WPT 2
WPT 3 fully configured and at Vref
WPT 4 AP and FD off

92
Q

Can we tow in to the gate with Eng on?

A

NO, If it is necessary for the aircraft to be towed to the gate or stand, the engines shall be shutdown prior to commencing the tow. In cases where the APU is unserviceable, the tow in shall be done with engines shutdown, powered by either a tug or aircraft batteries.

93
Q

Can we tow forward during a push back?

A

Yes but
Contact ATC and request Eng start at the gate and a push back with no forward tow.

During pushback a tow forward with an engine running is not normally allowed. In a situation where an engine must be started at the gate (i.e., unserviceable APU) and airport procedures dictate that a subsequent tow forward is required, the following shall apply:

Ground crew shall coordinate with the Flight Crew, prior to pushback, when the aircraft will need to be pulled forward and only one engine shall be started; and The second engine shall be started, if required, after the aircraft reaches an appropriate stop positionand the park brake is set; and

The ground crew shall ensure:

1 That the heaviest capacity push tractor for aircraft type is used; and
2 The tow forward is to be conducted at the lowest possible speeds; and
3 Turning angles shall be kept to a minimum.

If an unplanned tow forward is required after the pushback has commenced, and the ground crew is not prepared to tow forward, the ground crew will coordinate the stop and request the engine(s) shut down prior to the aircraft being towed forward.

(An aircraft shall not be towed onto a gate with an engine running under any circumstances, battery power used)
