A
  1. Electromagnetic waves
    1. made of electric: movements of charges
    2. made of magnetic: forces around the movement of charges

Q

What is the angle of refractions?

A
  1. This is an agle that is created when light travels through different mediums.

Varialble

  1. C= light in a vacuum ( the fastest way light travels)
  2. V = velocity of light in any other medium
  3. n = a number that tells us how different medium impacts the speed of light. It is different from one medium to the next
    1. n water = 1.33
    2. n air = 1

Q

What is the incident light rays?

A
  1. The light ray will always be drawn according to the perpendicular line that allows us to get either a refraction or reflection angle.

Q

What is the difference between the reflected and refracted light rays ? what is the incident line?

A
  1. Refracted: light is hitting another medium
  2. Reflected: bounce the off of the surface
  3. line of incident: is the line that allows us to determine both the refraction and reflections angle.

Q

What does the snell law help us do?

A
  • The snell law helps us connect the n value ( that is dependent on the substance) and understanf how they come into play to help is calculate the refractions angle especially if they are given.

Q

What is the critical angle? and totla internal relfection****

A
  1. This is an angle that gives us insight into what the light will end up behaving
  2. light coming from water to air ( total
    1. incidend ray will try and reach the zero
    2. refracted light ray will move 90 degrees
  3. light coming from water to air ( total internal reflections)
    1.

Q

What is dispersion?

A
  • It is the concept of how we see rainbows, light can bend at different interface in an object, the drawing befroe the light was hitting linears things
  • when light hit the surface it will cause light to split in their different wavelengths and emit different colors.
