July- October 1940, Idea of defending against Luftwaffe. The use of Radar, modern planes and German mistakes helped defend Britain.

Luftwaffe started bombing only big cities to destroy moral and industry. Transitioned into Total War

Bombed every night from sep 7th to 2nd nov, 15,000 killed, 250,000 homeless

Four attacks in April/May, one on easter Tuesday where 900 killed, 150,000 homeless

Bombed 19-21st feb, the port, docks and oil refinery were targeted, 230 deaths

Rhondda Valley. 33,500 evacuees.
Why was rationing implemented?
Germans started destroying ships carrying food and supplies.
How did rationing improve some peoples lives?
Some begin having a balanced and healthy diet, children and elderly were given fish oil to improve development.
What did the Womens Voluntary services do?
Knitted balaclavas and socks for service men. Provided refrehments for people in shelters. Helped people who’s homes were destroyed. Collected scrap metal.
