What is lichen planus?
A
A skin disorder of unknown aetiology

How does lichen planus present?
A
- Itch, papular rash most common on the palms, soles, genitalia and flexor surfaces on arms
- Rash is often polygonal with ‘white lines’ pattern on the surface
- New skin lesions may appear at the site of trauma
- White-lace pattern on the buccal mucousa may be present
- Nail thinning

How is Lichen planus managed?
A
- Potent topical steroids
- Benzydamine mouthwash/spray for oral lichen planus
- Extensive disease may need oral steroids/immunosuppresion
