A common condition caused by the parasitic insect Pediculus capitis, which lives on and among the hair of the scalp of humans

Direct head to head contact

How does head lice present?
A
- Scratching and itching of the scalp 2-3 weeks after infection

How is head lice managed?
A
- Wet combing to remove head lice
- Physical insecticide: Dimeticon lotion/spray can be used
- Chemical insecticide: Malathion 0.5% liquid
