A
Anopleura, well developed claws, head longer than wide. Feed on blood and tissue. Vectors of diseases but not in dogs and cats.

A
Biting lice, rudimentary claws, fat head. Leads to irritation, feed on skin scales, do not transmit disease as vector

Characteristics of lice
A
Incomplete metamorphosis, no wings, very host specific. Nits cemented to hair, eggs hatch until adult. Whole history on one host. Transmitted by direct contact
