What are the 3 components of a lever?
Fulcrum, resistance (load) and effort
What is the fulcrum in most cases?
The joint
What is the resistance?
The object you are lifting or the body itself
What is the effort?
The insertion point of the muscle which is contracting
How are levers classified?
Into 1st class, 2nd class and 3rd class levers
What classifies a lever?
Which component is in the middle

The fulcrum is in the middle

- Extension in the elbow
- Flexion and extension in the neck
What is a 2nd class lever?
The resistance is in the middle

- Plantarflexion at the ankle
What is a 3rd class lever?
The effort is in the middle

All joints in the body
- Flexion in the elbow
- Extension in the knee
