Q

What is the relationship between moment of inertia and angular velocity?

A

They are inversely proportional so will always have an affect on one another
- As one increases, the other one decreases at the same rate

Q

What are the 2 things moment of inertia depends on?

A

Q

How does moment of inertia depend on the distribution of the mass around the axis?

A

The closer the mass is to the axis of rotation, the easier it is to turn - so the moment of inertia is low
Whereas, the further the mass is to the axis of rotation, the harder it is to turn – so the moment of inertia is high

Q

What will increasing the distance of the distribution of mass from the axis do?

A

It will increase the moment of inertia and decrease the angular velocity
