- Offenders have basic human rights
- So must be treated with compassion - shouldn’t get a punishment inhumane/ harmful.

- A crime usually targeted at a person due to their race, religion, disability or gender.

- They condemn hate crimes because they believe God creates all humans equally and no one should be treated like they are inferior.
- Jesus: “love your neighbour” - show compassion, care and respect.

- Christians don’t agree with any theft - whether it is caused by need/ greed.
