- Measles is a viral disease.

- Fever

How is measles spread/ how can we prevent spread?
A
- Measles virus is spread by inhalation of droplets from sneazes and coughs.
- Most children are vaccinated at a young age.

Why are most children vaccinated against measles at a young age?
A
- Measles is a serious illness that can be fatal if complications arise.
- ie. damage to breathing system and brain - don’t need to know

How is HIV spread/ how can it be prevented?
A
- Sexual contact
- Exchange of body fluids such as blood which occurs when drug- users share needles.
- Use protection ie. condoms
- Use clean needles.

What is the main sympton of HIV?
A
- Flu- like illness.

What happens when HIV enters the body?
A
- HIV attacks the body’s immune cells.
- Late stage HIV infection/ aids occurs when the body’s immune system is so badly damaged.

A
- It won’t be able to deal with other infections ie. cancer.

What is the main treatment for HIV?
A
- Antiretroviral drugs.
- Makes sure the virus doesn’t damage the patient’s immune system.

What is the main difference between viruses and bacteria?
A
- Viruses cannot be treated with antibiotics.

What is TMV?
A
- A widespread pathogen, affecting many species of plants - including tomatoes.
- It gives a distinct “mosaic” pattern of discolouration on the leaves.

A
- Rate of photosynthesis is reduced.
- Growth of the plant is reduced.
