Q

What is the calculation to work out your BMR

For both male and female

A

BMR for Men = 66.5 + (13.75 x weight [kg]) + (5.0 x height[cm]) − (6.76 x age [years])

BMR for Women = 65.5 + (9.5 x weight [kg]) + (1.85 x height [cm]) − (4.7 x age [years])

Q

What are the multipliers for each activity level

A
Sedentary - BMR x 1.2
Little exercise - BMR x 1.375
Moderate - BMR x 1.55
Heavy - BMR x 1.725
Very heavy - BMR x 1.9

Q

What is a bio-electrical impedance analysis (BIA)

A

Standard technique used to measure body fat percentage, in which electrodes are fitted across the body transmitting a low frequency current which determines what resistance is given by both muscle and fat
