What is OCD?
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder- anxiety disorder- repetitive behaviour, obsessive π
What are the 3 Behavioural πββοΈ(action) Characteristics of OCD?
1) Compulsive πβββ- β¬οΈ anxiety (must perform: if βοΈ something dreadful happen) repetitive, unconcealed- external components- π by others
2) Hinder everyday functioning- compulsions & repetitive behaviour β° consuming- person late e.g.- βοΈ effective work & job
3) Avoidance- β¬οΈ anxiety- avoid situations trigger OCD
What are the 3 Emotional π(feelings) Characteristics of OCD?
1) Anxiety & distress- sufferers aware- obsessions & compulsive πβββ excessive -> shame, embarrassment- can not control πβββ-> distress
2) Depression- OCD accompanied by depression- low mood- βοΈ activity enjoyment- compulsive πβββ- temporary relief
3) Guilt & disgust- π emotions- over minor issues
What are the 3 Cognitive π§ (thinking) Characteristics of OCD?
1) Obsessions- intrusive π (impulses)- inappropriate/forbidden- uncontrollable, cause anxiety- internal components
2) Attention bias- focused on anxiety creating stimuli- hyper vigilant- β¬οΈ attention to stimuli
3) Self awareness- sufferers know π, impulses etc self invented & inappropriate- BUT can not control/stop them
