What is deviation from social norms?

Why is deviation from social norms important?

2) Society- rules- govern behaviour- based on moral standards
3) If rules broken- help identify person- suffering from mental disorder
What are the evaluation points of deviation from social norms?
๐- โ๏ธ always clearly indicate- psychological abnormality- difficult- differentiate- person abnormal or odd/eccentric- e.g. ppl who streak- odd, deviates from social norms- BUT not mentally ๐ง disturbed
๐- distinguishes between non-desirable & desirable ๐โโโ- protects public- effects/consequences- abnormal ๐โ- e.g. public nudity
๐- context must be considered- e.g. nudity- high street- nudist ๐ acceptable/unacceptable
