left lower quadrant/abdomen pain

What is appendicitis?
inflammation of appendix due to obstruction
Treatment of appendicitis?
Surgery to remove appendix

clinical but CT scan preferred
S&S of appendicitis?
Pain in lower right quadrant (McBurney’s point)
fever, malaise, diarrhea
What is stomatitis?
inflammation of the mouth (oral mucosa)
type 1: herpatic (cold sores) infectious
type 2: aphthous (canker sores)

A=burning, tingling, ulcers of mucous membrane
What is Viral Hepatitis?
Inflammation of liver caused by several viruses

What is Cirrhosis?
Scarring of the liver that has replaced the normal cells

S&S of Cirrhosis?
Nausea, vomiting, elevated bilirubin causing jaundice

liver transplant and no alcohol
What is Gastritis?
Inflammation of gastric mucosa
S&S of Gastritis?
epigastric pain, cramping, belching
vomiting blood
Treatment of Gastritis?
symptomatic-eliminate bacteria
