TG - Why was licensed removal of asbestos required?
A
- Asbestos stickers present adjacent to works and will be disturbed
- Asbestos to be removed by licensed UKAS contractor

What are examples of licensed work?
A
- Removing sprayed coatings
- Removal or other work that may disturb pipe lagging
- Any work involves loose fill insulation
- Work on asbestos millboard
- Work on asbestos insulation board where risk assessment indicates it will not be a short duration

What are the requirements for removing asbestos?
A
- All licensable work must be notified to the appropriate enforcing authority using the ASB5 form at least 14 days before works commence
- Comply with Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012

How did you specify to remove the asbestos?
A
- Removal must be undertaken as per UKAS regulations and by a UKAS accredited removal contractor only
- Area of works should be fully enclosed to avoid spread of fibres
- All asbestos to be double bagged and disposed of appropriately
- Asbestos works to be carried out before main contract works – air testing and reoccupation certificates to be issued on completion
