Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) Flashcards
1
Q
What is left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH)
A
LVH occurs because of chronic and abnormal increase in mass of the left ventricle.
Occurring over time typically due to hypertension and can lead to reduced contractility as the ventricles become more rigid.
2
Q
What is LVH a part of?
A
hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
3
Q
How do I recognise LVH
A
- Amplitude increases in the qrs in leads LI, aVL, V4, V5 and V6 (Left sided leads).
- Increased S-wave depth in leads V1 and V2.
-Possible STD in left sided leads.
- Possible STE in V1 and V2
4
Q
What leads is LVH present in?
A
LI, aVL, V4, V5 and V6 (Left sided leads).
5
Q
Signs and symptoms of lVH?
A
Associated with underlying condition.
6
Q
Significance/treatment of lVH?
A
- No treatment for ECG finding of LVH
However treat the patients presenting symptoms.
