lecture four Flashcards
sorting in Golgi complex
afer protein enter golgi from ER, directed to one of these locations: stay in golgi, ttransported via vesicle to ER, to lysosome, or to vacuole
what is the golgi complex
consists of sacks (cisternae) with no ribosomes, that receive proteins made in ER and transports them into vesicles
exocytosis
proteins to be secreted from cell are transported to membrane
endocytosis
brings molecules into cell from exterior
what are lysosomes
small membrane bound vesicles containing more than 50 different enzymes hydrolytic enzymes, found in animals
what is the function of autophagy
digest organelles not functioning properly, by degraded organelles with hydrolytic enzymes.
what is phagocytocis
produce large vesicles containing engulfed material until lysosome fuses to vesicle
what is the central vacuole
perform specialized function unique to plants, stores water and maintains turgor pressure
what is the cell wall
supports individual cells
what is the plasmodesmata
plasma membrane lined channel connect cytosol of adjacent cell
what are the three fiber parts of the cell wall
primary cell wall, secondary cell wall, lignin reinforcement( woody plants)
what does the cell wall consist of
cellulose
what is autophagy
membrane surround organims, forming vesicle, than fuse to 1+ lysosomes
