Lecture 9 (Anatomy Of The Brain) Flashcards
What structure found in the cerebrum help increase its surface?
GYRI (ridges) separated by SULCI (grooves)
Divided into lopes named by the overlying bones
What structure in the brain connects brain to spinal cord
Brainstem
Which lope in the brain is responsible for Visual processing
Occipital lope
Which lope is responsible for processing sensory information?
Partial lope
Where would you find the auditory cortex?
Temporal lope
Where would you find the wernicke’s area?
Temporal lope
a language disorder that makes it hard for you to understand words and communicate called?
Wernicke’s aphasia
Wernicke’s aphasia causes you to speak in a jumbled “word salad” that others can’t understand. Broca’s aphasia leaves you with limited language. You might only be able to say single words or very short sentences. But others can usually understand what you mean.
Side note!
In which cerebral cortex would broca’s aphasia develop?
Broca’s area in the frontal lope
What is the ridges in the cerebellum called?
Folia
