What is information?
Information is all information obtained and recorded for a policing purpose. It is the raw data.
What is intelligence?
Intelligence is collected information that has been evaluated and assessed and may also be classified as confidential or sensitive.
What is NIM?
National Intelligence Model
The NIM is a business model which ensures that information is used in a way that enables managers to determine strategic direction, make tactical and resourcing decisions and manage risk.

What is the information cycle?

How does the intelligence cycle coincide with the NIM?
The information we collect goes into the cycle to be collected and evaluated and formed into intelligence. This intelligence is then looked at using NIM. We can identify objectives for the force to work towards and then ultimately reduce crime, preserve life, bring offenders to justice and so on.
What is a PIR?

Before submitting intelligence you need to ask yourself the following?
- Is it a duplicate of other information?
- Is it relevant to a specific policing purpose?
- Does it add value?
- Is the information accurate?
What are the three stages of grading intelligence?
- Source evaluation
- Information/ intelligence assessment
- Dissemination
What is the source evaluation?
- Reliable
- Untested
- Unreliable
What is the information and intelligence assessment?
