The five stages of infectious disease
Incubation: - infections agent has invaded tissue and Bergen to multiply - such small number no symptoms -
Prodromal: - as microbe increases and u reach a certain conc you will start to feel sick
Illness: most infectious stage - most likely to spread
Decline: bacteria/virus decreses
Concalesense: no signs or symptoms
All diseases has them just the timing in between is different

- the study of disease transmission
How does disease spread
Mortality
Is the incidence of death in a population
Morbidity..
Refers to the incidence of disease, including fatal and non fatal diseases
The incidence for a disease (exam)
The incidence of a disease is the number of new cases of the disease in a given time period
The prevalence
The prevalence of a disease is the total number of new and existing cases in a population in a given time
Endemic
The amount of a particular disease that is usually present in a community is referred to as the baseline or endemic level of disease (of a particular geographic area)
Sporadic
A disease that occurs on frequently and irregularly
Epidemic
An increase, often sudden, in the number of cases of a disease above what is normally expected in that population or area
Pandemic
An epidemic that as spread over several countries or continents, usually affecting a large number of people
