1) problem/diagnosis
2) antidote
what is the medium of infinitization and why
fantasy, because humans are finite creatures

losing yourself in religion; religious ecstasy
getting lost in your feelings, imagination
infatuation in love
why is losing yourself in religion bad
because you lose yourself, your identify and your self
what is the biggest danger of losing yourself for kierkegaard
no one will notice or call you out on it, they will notice the loss of an arm or 5 dollars but not the loss of the self
example of losing yourself in music (lost in infinite)
song on repeat for days, lyrics dont even mean anything and you dont know yourself anymore
example of religious ecstasy
Turkish dervishes, spinning for hours lost in ecstasy
what does losing yourself in the infinite do
lifts you up off your feet, you lose your grounding and sense of self
example of infinitization in seducers diary
author loses himself completely after seeing coredlias hand, falls in state of infatuation and deep imagination of who she is and what could be
is losing yourself in the infinite always bad
it is for kirekegaard some religions do not value the self and the aim is to lose yourself in the religious ecstasy
rough edges analogy
rough edged need not be grinded away completely, only smoothed
we cannot let people run around doing whatever they want, but the solution is not to make everyone identical either
what is losing yourself in the finite
being another cog in the machine, busied by worldly affairs
waitress example
people look at you as the waitress, you are just you but you have the choice to succumb to that role
this is losing yourself in the finite, you’ve succumbed to your role in the finite
