6
Q

what does existence preceding essence mean

A

man exists first and then defines himself
- to begin with he is nothing
- he will not be anything until later
- and then he will be what he makes of himself
- thus there is no human nature
- there is no God to have conception of it

9
Q

what was the point of sartes phenomenology of humanity

A

being in itself and being for us

being for us is being able to relate things. part of our experience surrounded by inanimate objectes, and subject to the laws of nature despite us ourselves not being subject to laws of nature.

we are not simply being blown away like leaves , we are one step behind reality
(this is nothingness, as in being and nothingness)
