Lecture 22 Flashcards
Functions of the abdominal wall
Assists with Breathing
changes into abdominal pressure
protects and houses the major viscera
Anterior wall innervation
Anterior rami T7-T12
What is the linea alba
Formed by aponeurosis of the 3 flat muscles
3 flat muscles that form the aponeurosis
Internal and external oblique
and transverse abdominis
What does the lines alba
Separates the two sides of the rectus abdominis muscles
Rectus abdominis
(O) pubic symphysis and tubercle
(I) costal cartilage and xiphoid process
White line at the edge of the rectus abdominis
The linea semilunaris
Pyramidalis
(O) inferiorly at the inferior pubis
(I) linea alba
Short notes on the rectus sheath
Tendinous that is formed by the aponeurosis of the three lateral muscles
The aponeurosis continues medially and inferiorly at the rectus abdominous and then they diverge and pass around it’s anterior and posterior sides
Enclosing rectus sheath
Meeting again at the median line
External oblique
(O) rib 5-12
(I) iliac crest and the pubic tubercle
Internal oblique
(O) throcaculmbar fasica and lilac crest
(I) insert at the lower ribs, pubic crest
Transverse abdominis
(O) lilac crest, lateral part of the inguial ligament
(I) linea alba and pubic crest
Quadratus luborum
(O) transverse process and iliolumbar ligaments
(I) transverse process and inferior border
Thoracic diaphragm
Thin muscular, tendionus septum
Separates the thoracic cavity from the abdominal cavity
It’s dome shaped and it’s composed by a central tendon
Diaphragm
(O). Xphoid process
(I) central tendon
;N) phoenic nerve
