Lecture 15 Flashcards
superior part of the arm
Communicates with the axilla
Inferior part of the arm
number of important structures pass between am and forearm through cubital fossa
what is an intermuscular septa
Pass from each of the humerus to deep foscia that surrounds the limb
Anterior compartment of the arm
Contains muscles that flex the arm
innervated by musculocutaneous nerve
Posterior compartment of the arm
Has muscles that extend the elbow joint
innervated by the radial nerve
Brachilias : Origin
Anterior aspect of the lower half of humerus
Insertion of Brachialis
coronoid process of ulna
Innervation of brachiallis
musclocutionoeus nerve
function of brachiallis
Flexor of forearm at elbow
Biceps brachii: Origin
long: supraglenoid tubercle
short: apex of coronoid process
Biceps brachii: Insertion
Radial tubercle
Biceps brachii: Innervation
Muscleocutanoues nerve
biceps brachii: Function
Flexor chief supinator accessory flexor
Triceps brachii: Origin
LONG: infraglenoid
MEDIAL: lower half of posterior surface of humerus
LATERAL: Upper half of posterior surface of humerus
Triceps brachii: Insertion
Olecranon process of unla
Triceps brachii: innervation
Radial nerve
Triceps brachii: Function
Extentionof forearm
Aneoneus: origin
Lateral epicondyle of humerus
Aneonues: Insertion
Olecranon process and posterior surface of ulna
Aneonues: Innervation
Radial nerve
Aneonues: Function
Abductor
MASULOCATANEOUS NERVE: function
has a motor innervation which helps with the flexor compartment
has a sensory innervation to skin on lateral surface of the arm
Musculocutaneous nerve: contents
leaves axilla and enters the arm by passing through coracobrachialis
passes inferiorly between biceps brachii and brachialis
Emerges lateral to tendon of biceps brachii continues as lateral cutaneous nerve
Radial nerve : Functions
Motor: mascular branch to muscles of posterior compartment
sensory:skin on the posterior deepest of arm
Radial nerve: content
Largest terminal branch of posterior cord
in arm runs in the radial groove directly next to bone
accompanied by profuda brachii artery
brachial artery
begins at lower border of teres major as continuation of axillary artery
main arternal supply of the arm and is located in anterior compartment
terminates opposite the neck of radius by dividing into radius and ulnar arties
veins
Receives 2 tributaries
paired brachial veins accompany the brachial artery
