What are the consequences of liver disease on haemostasis?

A

Less clotting factor, fibrinogen and regulators -> because reduced protein synthesis
Less clotting factor function -> because vitK malabsorption
Lower PLT number and function
Increased fibrinolysis

What are the treatments for haemostatic disorders?

A
  1. Avoid causes of bleeding
  2. Pro-haemostatic drugs
  3. Replace missing components
    • Donor
    • Factor concentrate (Plasma derived or recombinant)
