Whats the medical / biological model
A
- Broca, Wernicke
- eventually, all mental illness= categorised– underlying biological causes (bacterial, viral infections, localised brain damage, toxins, heredity)
- lead to treatment, prevention

Psychoanalytic model
A
- no clear dividing line between normal and abnormal
- include conditions other than psychotic states (neuroses: anxiety, depression, phobias)

- Class and diagnosis of illnesses based on several assumptions
- Illness–> diff from health
Diff illnesses are: - distinguishable from each other
- occur independently from each other
- have causal agent
- respond to specific treatment
