What are four factors that affect reliability?

Answer 1

1. People taking test (reliability relies on variability btw ppl; need a match between people and test level ie floor and ceiling effects)
2. Item characteristics (internal consistency relies upon correlation between items and no of items)
3. Test characteristics (bandwidth vs fidelity; the greater the specificity the greater the reliability BUT should not sacrifice content coverage to obtain reliability)
4. Methods used to estimate reliability (internal consistency; test-retest; alternate forms)
