What is paraplegia?
paralysis of lower body
What is hemiplegia?
Paralysis of only one side of the body
What is tetraplegia (quadriplegia)?
paralysis of all four limbs
What part of the spinal cord is injured with Brown-Sequard syndrome?
One side of the spinal cord
Brown-Sequard Syndrome
If a patient has loss of pain temperature and light touch on their left side, which side of the spinal cord is damaged?
Right side (contralateral side)
Brown-Sequard Syndrom
If a patient lost motor function and vibration, position and deep touch sensation on their right side, what side of the spinal cord is damaged?
Right side (ipsilateral side)
What is a positive babinski sign?
Toes curl up/back when plantar surface of foot is probed
What is a spinal infarct?
Loss of blood flow to part of the spinal cord
What are tests we use to diagnose SCI?
- light touch score
- pin prick score
- strength testing
What are some therapies for SCI?
- supported treadmill walking
- exoskeleton supported walking
