Lecture 12-glands Flashcards
What are glands?
An aggregate of epithelial cells that are specialised in secreting substances
How are exocrine glands formed?
Canicularisation occurs after the invading of epithelial cells in the connective tissue
What do hepatocytes do?
Protein synthesis
Carbodhyrates+lipid metabolism
Detoxifies
Kupfffer cells
A specialised macrophage- Phagocytosis.
- Traps+ phagocytosis of old aged erythrocytes (120 day old)
- Produces Bilirubin, hepatocytes convert it into Bile
How does carbohydrate metabolism happen?
Fatty acids formed from carbs
Triglycerides formed from fatty acids+ glycerol
Gluceoneogenesis- Glucose formed by Alana one, glycerol precursors
Stellate cell
Contains vacuole which contain vitamin A- synthesise and deposit collagen in the perisinusoidal space- resulting in liver fibrosis
