Lecture 1 Flashcards
What are the components included in a PT diagonsis?
Activity limitations and participation restrictions due to ___(BS and F impairments), the influence of personal and contextual factors, impact on QOL
T/F, pediatric physical therapy has tools with good predictive validity?
false, do not have good tools and have not followed kids descriptively for long periods of time to have good prognosis
How do you assess and document outcomes of intervention?
you do so by determining if LONG TERM goals were met-> Goal attainment scaling
What is the term for when you write a goal and write incremental steps to achieve it?
goal attainment scaling
T/F, when getting a history from a parent, you should ask in depth questions about their child’s time in the NICU
false, do not want to do this as it can be very triggering for the parents
What are some ways you can organize a routines based interview?
By chronological (tell me about your day starting when your child wakes up..?) or activity based (sleeping, eating, self-care, etc)

- movement with assistance
What are body structure and function impairments to check in a child?
alignment, tone, ROM, strength, motor control and coordination, developmental reflexes, sensation (somatosensory and other modalities), balance and postural control, etc
What are things that must be included in the pediatric assessment portion?
PT diagnosis, PT prognosis, long-term goals, short-term goals
Why is it important to know about the child’s fears?
In order to know which activities to use in therapy so the child doesn’t cry or become unable to participate
